At Tamagawa, the Tamagawa Soft Energy Project (TSEP)
has begun, undertaking energy studies aiming at zero emission. The focus of the
studies has been on the efficient use of solar energy and wind power.
In the Tamagawa Solar Challenge Project (TSCP), Upper Division (9-12th) and University
students collaborate to compete in solar car races. The races serve as a testing
ground for the efficient use of solar energy. Excellent results have already been
attained. |
Meanwhile, Tamagawa Windmill Project (TWP) gives students the opportunity to think
over wind power as a form of energy, through competitions involving the capacity
and design of windmill. Windmills have gathered attention as a zero-emission energy
source, along with solar energy. Pilot windmills on the campus have been used
for surveys on annual wind volume and electricity generation, as well as for actual
power generation and lighting. We look forward to the results likely to be achieved.
In the windmill competition, large numbers of students respond each year to calls
for unique windmills, from K-12 and
the University. The Project aims not only at energy development but also at educational
effects to encourage more students to think about energy and the environment.
There is a plan to incorporate the Project into daily educational and research
activities, to stimulate the entire school into thinking about energy. |
