Grade 8 Canada Trip
The Grade 8 Canada Trip is an opportunity to travel overseas to experience life in a different culture and country. Students travel together as a homeroom group. The first goal is to prepare students for when they come face to face with other people from different cultures. This is a good chance for growth in this area for our students. The second goal of the trip is related to environmental education. One theme in this trip is environmental sustainability. The students experience workshops, tours, study sessions, give presentations and experience exchanges with local students and people to help increase their knowledge and experience base. Also there is the IB Schools’ Environment Summit which is held over two days, where students from four other Canadian IB MYP schools come together and collaborate to find solutions to environmental problems. The third goal of the trip is to give our students exposure to a completely English environment and have them learn how to work within that type of environment. Students stay with a homestay family in order to improve their language skills and exchange Canadian and Japanese culture and customs.
