WELCOME TO TAMAGAWA ACADEMY IB PROGRAMMES
I would like to take this opportunity to offer you a warm welcome to the Diploma Programme at Tamagawa Academy.
Established here in 2010, the Diploma Programme is a rigorous pre-university course that aims to produce inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young adults who are active and compassionate citizens continuing their journey in lifelong learning.
Our programme has grown quickly in its short life so far and we are continually looking to expand the amount, and range of courses we offer. One of our main goals is to continue to support all of our students through the course through initiatives such as study hall periods in the Multi Media Resource Centre, study skills workshops, Extended Essay workshops, study periods and support days, a CAS period and a weekly DP Core period with the coordinator where students get the chance to improve and reflect on their Approaches to Learning skills.
We are proud of the support we give students, both inside and outside the classroom through the work of our dedicated teaching and support staff. Our college counsellor Mrs. Tokiwa along with homeroom teachers have supported students from our 12 graduating classes so far with the application process to continue their education both at universities in Japan and oversees in the United Kingdom, the United Stated of America, Canada and Australia.
The Diploma Programme students make the most of the wide variety of opportunities studying at Tamagawa offers them. Our CAS programme, coordinated by Ms. YADA, provides a wealth of opportunities for students to challenge themselves both creatively and physically and to offer their services to both the local and national communities. Our students are able to take advantage of the first class provisions on offer at the school such as the Multi Media Resource Centre and university library where they are able to undertake independent research.
As well as completing their studies, our students are also active in a range of extracurricular activities that are offered at Tamagawa such as Round Square, Super Global High School, Model United Nations, The Student Council, a rich variety of sports, science and creative clubs as well as fully participating in the school’s Pegasus Festival.
I invite you to take a look at our website to gain an insight into many different aspects of life in the Diploma Programme at Tamagawa and the exciting opportunities it provides both students and staff.
Please don’t hesitate to contact me with any questions.
