An introduction to the Diploma Programme Core
The Core of The Extended Essay (the EE), Theory of Knowledge (TOK) and Creativity, Activity and Service (CAS) lies at the heart of the Diploma Programme. The three parts of the core are unique to the International Baccalaureate and evidence of good practice within these will prove both academic and extracurricular knowledge that is both respected by universities and designed to give students the skills to prepare them for higher education and to enable them to make a positive impact on local, national and international communities.
Students are supported in the Core at Tamagawa by having a `DP Core` class one period per week. In the class, the students work with the DP Coordinator and CAS and Extended Essay coordinator to plan, execute and reflect upon different parts of the core. Students use Managebac to record their progress in the core and to keep in touch with their Coordinators and teacher supervisors.
