DP at Tamagawa Academy

  • WELCOME TO TAMAGAWA ACADEMY IB PROGRAMMES

I would like to take this opportunity to offer you a warm welcome to the Diploma Programme at Tamagawa Academy.

Established here in 2010, the Diploma Programme is a rigorous pre-university course designed to develop inquiring, knowledgeable, and caring young adults who are active and compassionate citizens committed to lifelong learning.

Our programme has grown rapidly in its short history, and we are continually working to expand both the number and range of courses we offer. One of our main goals is to provide comprehensive support to all of our students through initiatives such as study hall periods in the Multi-Media Resource Centre, study skills workshops, Extended Essay workshops, additional study periods and support days, a dedicated CAS period, and a weekly DP Core session with the coordinator, where students have the opportunity to enhance and reflect on their Approaches to Learning skills.

We are proud of the support we provide to students, both inside and outside the classroom, thanks to the dedication of our teaching and support staff. Our college counsellor, Ms. Tokiwa, together with homeroom teachers, has guided students from our 14 graduating classes so far through the university application process, helping them gain admission to institutions in Japan as well as overseas, including the United Kingdom, the United States of America, Canada, and Australia.

Diploma Programme students make the most of the wide variety of opportunities available at Tamagawa. Our CAS programme, coordinated by Ms. Yada, offers students numerous chances to challenge themselves both creatively and physically, while also encouraging them to contribute their services to local and national communities. Students also benefit from excellent facilities such as the Multi-Media Resource Centre and the university library, which provide valuable resources for independent research.

In addition to their academic pursuits, our students actively participate in a range of extracurricular activities offered at Tamagawa, including Round Square, Super Global High School, Model United Nations, the Student Council, various sports, science and creative clubs, and full involvement in the school’s Pegasus Festival.

I invite you to explore our website to gain further insight into the many different aspects of life in the Diploma Programme at Tamagawa and the exciting opportunities it offers to both students and staff.

Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.

    Tina Wei, DP Coordinator.
