Teacher Vacancies in the Tamagawa Academy Bi-Lingual Programme (BLES)

Authorized as an IB World School since 2009, Tamagawa Academy offers a bilingual English and Japanese curriculum under the framework of the IB Middle Years Programme and the Diploma Programme in its secondary school division. Now the School will launch a bi-lingual program in its elementary school and kindergarten as a feeder course of the IB Programmes.

Below is a vacant position for the captioned program. Teaching certification to teach school-aged children is a requirement for the position listed below. Holding any English teaching qualification such as TSOL/ESL in the Mainstream as well as experience working in Japan is an asset.

BLES Coordinator April 2015 The Tamagawa Academy Bi-lingual Elementary School Programme (BLES) is seeking a coordinator. The selected candidate will be responsible for coordinating all components of an eight-year BLES program from a three-year kindergarten to grade 5 by: (1) clearly communicating the vision and goals of the BLES organization to all stakeholders; (2) sharing in the development and implementation of the BLES and Japanese national curriculum (no prior knowledge or experience required) and assessment requirements; (3) coordinating and delivering ongoing school-based professional development; (4) acting as a pedagogical leader for the program. Together with the BLES leadership team and the school administration, the coordinator will continue fostering regular communication with subject area teachers/leaders and with Japanese mainstream teachers/leaders. The Coordinator will teach non-specialist subjects and is considered a member of the BLES leadership team, reporting directly to a program head. The Japanese language ability is not required, but would be considered an asset.
