Robots for 2010 activity
Robot Technology is one of pioneering field of Japan on a global level. However, in order for robots to be adapted to human society and be used therein, a high level of interface technology that particularly suiting to human activity is necessary. For this purpose, we focus and apply the results of Brain Science Institute research dealing with the brain and cognition, and by conducting the research and development of the ability of robots to support humans in the real world, we attempt to carve out new research territory that transcends the traditional image of mechanical robots

Our goal is the creation of robots with human cognitive function, particularly an interpersonal communication function, and that can function together with a variety of people within the house and at the workplace. Skills that are natural for humans such as the inference and comprehension of the intentions of others and coordinated task support, transcending the limitation of vocal conversation and digital data transmission, are functions that are difficult for the robots of today. When these skills are mastered by the robots, they can enter human society and be of service there.

In addition to the cutting edge of robotics researches, we also conducting an activity of TRCP, Tamagawa Robot Challenge Project, that tries improvement of the science education in Tamagawa Gakuen through a series of Playing with robots, Competing by robots, and Understanding by constructing robots programs.
