Year 7 and 8 students in English wrote a letter to important political figures as part of the Write for Rights movement by Amnesty International. Students have been given 6 victims of human rights abuses and they chose one person to support. The activity is part of the Human Rights unit and is equivalent to the writing assessment. The completed letters were posted in the school mailbox and then they will be shipped to countries such as Israel, Egypt, Belarus, and Nigeria.
It's not just about learning at a desk, but learning is directly connected to the real world.
　7年生と8年生の英語の学習で、重要な政治家たちに手紙を書きました。これはアムネスティ・インターナショナルによる Write for Rights 運動の一環です。生徒たちには6人の人権侵害の被害者が紹介され、その中から支援すべき人を1人選び、その被害者をサポートするための手紙を書きます。この活動は単元「人権」の学習の一部であり、英作文の評価対象です。完成した手紙は学校のポストに投函された後、イスラエル、エジプト、ベラルーシ、ナイジェリアなどの国へと届けられます。
　学びは机の上で完結することなく、それが実社会に直結していることが重要です。
