Introduction

Tamagawa Academy IB Programs follows the IB MYP and DP curriculum and we are currently seeking a dedicated and passionate MYP English B Language Acquisition Teacher to join our team in August 2025. This full-time position involves teaching students with varying levels of skills and abilities, preparing them for the IB examinations, and inspiring a deep appreciation for literature, language, and effective communication. Our school seeks a teacher who values inquiry and supports students in becoming critical thinkers who can solve problems independently. The teacher should create a student-centered classroom that is differentiated for diverse learners and fosters each student’s growth and success.

Position:

MYP English B Language Acquisition Teacher for Grades 6-10
(Possible DP English B Language Acquisition SL/HL position in the future)
The position includes being part of a Homeroom team.

Start Date:

August 1st, 2025

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Minimum qualification of a Bachelor's degree in English Language, Linguistics, TEFL/TESOL, or a related field
  • Must have a teaching certification/license from your home country, preferably with a specialization in TEFL/TESOL from an accredited teaching program that includes practicums. A TEFL or TESOL certificate alone is not acceptable.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience teaching English Language Acquisition at the high school level, with experience in the IB MYP and/or DP highly desirable
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of the IB MYP and DP curriculum for English Language Acquisition
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to collaborate effectively withstudents, colleagues, and the wider school community
  • Ability to create engaging lesson plans that cater to different learning styles
  • Experience using inquiry-based teaching methods
  • Proficiency in using technology to enhance learning and teaching in the classroom
  • Experience working with diverse student populations
  • Advanced proficiency in English (spoken and written)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach IB MYP English B Language Acquisition to students
  • Design, prepare, and deliver lessons and assessments in line with the IB MYP and DP guidelines and standards
  • Provide academic support to students when required
  • Evaluate student progress through both formative and summative assessments, providing timely and constructive feedback
  • Maintain up-to-date records of student progress and achievement and communicate effectively with parents and guardians
  • Foster a classroom environment that encourages inquiry, critical thinking, and a passion for science
  • Prepare IB and school documentation as required
  • Perform student supervisory/homeroom duties and other general duties as requested
  • Collaborate with the MYP and DP coordinators and other faculty members to ensure a cohesive and comprehensive delivery of the IB curriculum
  • Collaboratively work with colleagues to administer different school committees, engage in school-wide initiatives, and contribute to the school community beyond the classroom
  • Use computer literacy tools (Google Workspace, ManageBac, Microsoft Office)

  • Strong knowledge and understanding of the IB MYP Individuals and Societies and DP History curricula
